Rose, who is currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, says the club's new signings can be a key part of a turn in fortune for Sunderland.
"There are new faces," said Rose. "Steven Fletcher has been unbelievable and as soon as we get Adam Johnson match-fit, I can seem him being great for Sunderland.
"We are still growing and everyone is getting fitter and we will see where it takes us in a few weeks."
Although Sunderland remain unbeaten in the Premier League, their victory against Wigan was the first of the season and it came as a relief to Rose.
"Wigan was a must-win, especially when we have drawn the first four games of the season.
"No disrespect to Wigan, but it was a game we all thought we could win."
The victory gave Sunderland a much-needed boost as they next head for champions Manchester City in what will be their toughest encounter so far.
Rose added: "We needed some points going to City next week because that's going to be a very hard game."
