Sunderland will hold an investigation to determine why their pitch became water-logged causing their game at home to Reading to be postponed 80 minutes before kick-off.

Torrential rain fell over the night before and morning of the game.
A pitch inspection from referee Neil Swarbrick and both Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill and Reading boss Brian McDermott resulted in the decision to postpone the match.
New Sunderland signing Steven Fletcher was available to play and O'Neill said he would have started from the substitutes bench against Reading.
The club's Chief Executive Margaret Byrne said: “The club has invested a significant sum into pitchworks over the summer months and we are confident that it is in first-class condition.
"We will however meet with our pitch consultants immediately to carry out a full analysis of today’s events.”
Byrne also apologised to supporters of both clubs who had travelled to watch the game and said she "would also like to thank the manager, players and officials from Reading FC for their understanding in this matter."
An announcement for the rearranged fixture will be made in due course and all tickets purchased will still be valid.
