Sunderland
boss Martin O'Neill has made a new striker one of his top priorities, but has been frustrated in his attempts to bring in his targets.
Wolves have rejected several bids from Sunderland for Fletcher
as they yet to meet their valuation for the former Burnley
man.
However, it is understood Wolves have softened their stance on Fletcher and are now ready to let him move on as they seek to draw a line under the player's future.
Fletcher handed in a transfer request last month as he seeks to secure a move from Molineux following their relgeation from the Premier League.
Fletcher missed Saturday's defeat to Leeds and he is again likely to miss Tuesday's home clash with Barnsley
as Sunderland look to push through a deal to bring him to the Stadium of Light.
