Sky Sports understands that Sunderland are weighing up a move for Steven Pienaar.

Everton and Tottenham have failed to agree terms for the South African ace, despite lengthy talks.

Negotiations between Everton and the player have also not been concluded.

A source close to the deal told Sky Sports: "There are issues - I understand that the two clubs have failed to agree terms."

Sky Sports now understands that Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland - who both expressed an interest in Pienaar in January before he re-joined Everton on-loan - are now considering rival bids.

Everton boss David Moyes had made bringing Pienaar back to the club one of his main priorities this summer.
