Cook is available on a free transfer after leaving Sunderland at the end of last season.
The 22-year-old came through the youth ranks at Sunderland, but was unable to establish himself in the first team, making just three appearances for the club.
Cook enjoyed a spell on loan at Carlisle last season, scoring four goals in 14 appearances.
His performances caught the attention of Addicks boss Chris Powell and he has lined up a deal to take the forward to The Valley.
Cook is expected to sign a two-year deal at Charlton as they continue their rebuilding plans for life back in the Championship.
