A football grudge match between sports reporters and online bloggers ended in the horror of a penalty shoot out.

The Northern League Writers kept their nerve to beat the Northern League Bloggers from the spot after a five-all draw in the charity match organised in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
David Hartrick was the star for the bloggers’ side, managed by Gateshead manager Jon Shaw.

For the writers’ side, the Daily Mirror’s north-east correspondent Simon Bird scored twice.
The game went to penalties and the writers triumphed but Shaw also took a spot-kick which was saved.
