Mr Herron used the FA Vase final that he will play in on Sunday as material for a maths lesson.
He said: “Its good for them to see that you do something else apart from teaching.
“We’ve all got jobs, were just genuine lads who go to work during the day and this is our past time.
We’re lucky enough to have this opportunity and it’s going to be brilliant.”
Dunston UTS face fellow Northern League side West Auckland in their first ever appearance in the final.
Some of the other players went for a haircut at the Demon Barber in Newcastle for what they call the ‘vase cut.’
They have been every round so far and hope that looking sharp will help them bring home the trophy.
