It is believed to be the first time a journalist has taken over at a football club.
Salisbury-Jones was sat in the stands to watch Benfield’s 2-1 defeat to Spennymoor and will take full control at training on Thursday.

Perry Briggs has been in charge over recent weeks and will be retained as assistant manager, Colin Wotherspoon will be first team coach.
Chairman James Rowe says the decision is temporary and will reassess the situation after Benfield’s final game of the season at Consett on Saturday.
Sky Tyne and Wear will follow the progress of the Northern League’s newest and most inexperienced manager throughout the week.
