People were encouraged to form teams for the event after Rounders England identified the area as a prime location to grow the sport.
Nine teams took to the field with ages ranging from eleven to sixty six.
Fraser Gill, the Co-Founder of Coast Rounders, the North East’s first official rounders team said:
“When we first set up I got in touch with Rounders England and there was nothing in the region at all to support rounders.
“So using their website I learned how to set it up, learning from some of their experiences.”
The event formed part of North Tyneside Council’s Widening Horizons 4 All initiative, which aims to provide a broader and richer set of opportunities for the area’s residents.
