Stephen Miller

Stephen Miller was named captain of Team GB at London 2012. Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Miller went into the games holding five Paralympic medals, including three golds. He is widely considered as one the most successful athletes to ever compete at the Paralympic Games.

Stephen competed in the Men's Club Throw at London 2012 on August 31. His best throw was not enough to qualify for the final, meaning he did not add to his tally of medals at the Games.

Josef Craig

Josef Craig, 15, from South Shields, will compete in three swimming events at London 2012, the 100m freestyle (s7), 50m freestyle (s7), and 400m freestyle (s7).

Josef qualified for the 100m freestyle final after finishing 2nd in his heat, with the 4th fastest swim overall. That form was repeated in the final, when Josef finished just outside the medals.

Craig also finished sixth in the 50m freestyle final on September 4.

Dan English

21-year-old Dan English from Washington will be competing in his first Paralympic Games at London 2012. Dan is representing Team GB in the Five-a-side Blind Football competition.

The team drew 1-1 with Spain in their opening game on August 31, followed by a goalless draw against Argentina on September 2. A 1-0 victory over Iran on September 4 in their final group game means they qualify for the semi-finals and will play China on September 6.

Hazel Robinson

Five-time Paralympic medallist Hazel Robinson is hoping to add to her collection in the women's T36 100m, 200m and 4x100 relay at London 2012. The 32-year-old trains at Jarrow and Hebburn Athletics Club.

Hazel missed out on a medal in the 200m on September 1, but will go for gold in the 4x100m on September 4 and the 100m on September 8.

James O'Shea

Newcastle-born James O'Shea goes into his first Paralympic Games competing in the 100m Breaststroke SB5. It was former world champion Mark Foster who convinced James to start swimming competitively. James' event will take place on September 5.

John Robertson

John Robertson is set to compete in his third Paralympic Games at London 2012. Robertson's previous appearances at the Paralympics both resulted in sixth place finishes. The Sunderland-born 40-year-old is competing in the three-person sonar sailing event.

After six races, John's team lies in 7th place. They will compete in a total of 11 races, with the event concluding on September 6.

Lee Brunton

Lee Brunton of South Shields is set to take part in his first Paralympic Games at London 2012. He is representing Team GB in the Five-a-side Blind Football competition alongside Dan English.

The team drew 1-1 with Spain in their opening game on August 31, followed by a goalless draw against Argentina on September 2. A 1-0 victory over Iran on September 4 in their final group game means they qualify for the semi-finals and will play China on September 6.

Gemma Collis

Gemma Collis will compete in her first Games at the age of 19. She trains at Durham University, and will compete in Wheelchair Fencing in the Team Epee on September 7.
