Blaydon CC fell just short in their bid to win their first ever North East Premier League Division One league title after losing their final game of the season by six wickets.
They went into the game with Tynemouth CC eighteen points clear of second-placed South Northumberland CC and needed only a draw to win the league.
Blaydon had not lost a home match all season and batted first, posting a strong score of 233-7.
But, Tynemouth’s Phil Morse hit 68 and Patrick Bottha scored 76 as they finished on 235 for the loss of four wickets from 49 overs.
South Northumberland’s victory over South Shields meant the trophy would be going to them this season.
