Blaydon won the toss and elected to bat, Peter Freathy and Mark Drake both hit half centuries before they declared on 211/9.
In reply, Gateshead were 77/3 at tea before Ben Raine took three wickets in one over.
Raine finished with five wickets and was helped by captain Graeme Bridge who took four.
