Morpeth Harrier Laura Weightman has qualified for the Women’s Olympic 1500m semi-final after finishing sixth in her heat.

Her heat was won by Turkish athlete Gamze Bulut.
Her semi-final will take place on August 8 and if she goes through, will compete for a medal in the final on August 10.
