After a lengthy offseason, this was the Senators’ first game of the year after they failed to secure any preseason matches.
The Senators are a completely amateur side and their ten-game season in Division One North will see them travel as far south as Coventry and Nottingham.
The current squad is made up of players of varying experience.
Some have been with the Senators for many years but others have never before played a competitive game and made the roster after attending a ‘Rookie Day’ earlier this year.
But in their first game of the new season, the Senators succumbed to two late touch-downs and a field goal to begin the campaign in defeat.
Head Coach Gary Marshall told Sky Tyne and Wear: “We simply didn’t execute against Lancashire and credit to them they punished us.
“It’s the first game, we made some mistakes, we’ve got some things to put right and we’ll do that next practice.”
