There are lots of free transport themed events for children this half term at Monkwearmouth Station Museum.

From Saturday 27 October – Sunday 4 November children and young people can enter into the Best Bike Competition to be entered into a prize draw to win bike themed goodies.

Young people of all ages are invited to design a futuristic bicycle for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro; age categories are: age five to seven years, eight to 11 years, and the oldest category age 12 – 16 years; enter in person at the museum - winners will be informed by post.

On Tuesday 30 October children can come and decorate aceramic tile with bicycles, buses, trains or taxis to take home in the Terrific Transport Tiles day from 11am – 12pm & 1pm – 3pm.

Back by popular demand the North East Meccano Men are bringing their amazing mechanised models of Daleks, London buses, and many more on Thursday 1 November -  from  11am – 3pm.

KNEX construction toys are available to play with too from 11am – 12pm & 1pm – 3pm in the special Children’s Gallery.
