The A19 has reopened in both directions after it was closed by police during the morning rush hour.
Officers had been concerned about the safety of woman seen standing on the wrong side of railings on a footbridge.
The road was closed both north and southbound close to the Nissan junction between 6:21am and 8:22am, when the woman was escorted off the bridge.
