A knife-wielding robber threatened staff at a North Shields hotel before stealing a quantity of cash and an employee's red car.
The armed robbery took place at The Village Hotel at Cobalt Business Park in North Shields at 2.33am on Tuesday, October 16.
A man wearing a hooded tank top with a white t-shirt underneath and brown jogging bottoms took money and the vehicle from the hotel.
The car was later recovered from the nearby Merton Lane, and nobody was injured during the incident.
An extensive search was carried out for the man, who had his hood up and his face covered when he carried out the robbery.
DI John Gardner said: "The man threatened staff with a knife and made off with cash from the hotel.
"Staff were obviously left shocked and distressed but no-one was injured during the robbery.
"We're carrying out a number of enquiries into the robbery and would urge any witnesses, anyone who saw the man leave the red car, or anyone with information about who is responsible to contact us as soon as possible."
