Man Appears In Court Charged With Stabbing Sleeping Friend

A man has appeared in court accused of stabbing a friend as he slept. 

Jamie Donaldson, 23, is alleged to have used a key to let himself into the victim's flat in Shaftesbury House, South Shields, on the night of Wednesday September 19. 

He appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court on Friday September 21 to face a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He entered no plea to the charge.

Because of its serious nature, the case must be dealt with at Newcastle Crown Court, where he will appear on October 5.

Donaldson, of Green Lane, South Shields, was remanded in custody.
