A mum has won a weekend break in a luxury campervan after making her own video showing people what her and her family have been up to during the summer holidays.
Nikki Gibson, her husband Paul and children Evie, 22 months and Harry, seven months have won the Benfield Volkswagen campervan ‘Vancation’ holiday by entering the Sky Tyne and Wear Summer Scoop competition, which asked local people to send in pictures or make their own video news report of what they’ve been up to during the summer.
Nikki sent the local news, sports and community website a 60-second video of the places her and her family had visited over summer, which included Adventure Valley, Saltwell Park, Centre for Life and The Angel of the North. Her video was uploaded onto a special gallery area on the site, along with several other entrants.
She said: “I heard of the competition through the Sky Tyne and Wear website and thought it was a simple way of having fun, sharing what my family and I have been up to this summer whilst also having the chance to win a break.
“I couldn't choose one single photo of where we’d been as we've been to a lot of places, so I compiled a slideshow of our summer days out.
"My family are so chuffed to have won the Summer Scoop competition. We have won the VW ‘California’ campervan, which is just like a home from home and we are hoping to take it to the Yorkshire coastline, where we can visit the beaches and amusements and eat lots of ice cream!”
Sky Tyne and Wear community manager Philippa Goymer said: "Nikki’s video typified a Tyne and Wear summer and showcased all the great places and things to do in the region.
"Our site is all about sharing content and we encourage people to tell us the news they see around them everyday- whether that’s sending us a picture or video, and the competition was a great way to highlight this."
Benfield marketing manager Mark King said: "We were delighted to support this fun competition. There were lots of great entries and we are sure that Nikki and her family will enjoy a fabulous weekend break in the Volkswagen California campervan."
