Newcastle Phoenix Cycling Club is trying to attract new members following Team GB’s cycling success at the Olympics.

The club has held an Open Day at their new location at Scotswood Sports Centre.
The club has grown in popularity over the last six years. Having started with two members, the Phoenix now have more than forty.
Newcastle Phoenix coach Jon Bateman said: “This Open Day has come at a great time for us in the wake of the Olympics. We just want everyone to get involved.
“We do coaching, racing and an obstacle course too. We hope the kids enjoy it as much as we do.”
Dan Small, Regional Manager for the North East in British Cycling said: “We have had lots of new faces which is great and shows just how the Olympics has boosted cycling.”
