A female member of staff was threatened then tied up overnight by an intruder at a club in South Tyneside.
It happened at The Club on Station Road in Boldon Colliery after the premises had closed for the night on Saturday June 16.
The 32-year-old victim was not found until another member of staff came to open up around 7am the following morning.
The woman was taken to South Tyneside General Hospital as a precaution.
The man is described as well-built and wearing dark clothing.
Police want anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area after 10pm on Saturday to contact them on 101 ext 69191 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
