The Northern heat of the 2012 UK Barista Championships was held at Newcastle’s Centre For Life.

Stuart Archer who works at Pumphrey’s Coffee House in Blaydon finished second but will now have to wait to see if he makes the semi-finals.

The 20 highest scoring baristas from across the country qualify for April’s semi-finals in London

Baristas from as far afield as Kendal were put through their paces.

They had 15 minutes to impress a team of judges by serving up espressos, cappuccinos and their own signature espresso.
