Goalkeeper Rob Elliot finally made his Premier League debut in the game against Southampton for Newcastle United after joining in 2011.
Elliot joined from Charlton Athletic after making 96 appearences for the London club.
He signed a five-year contract at St James' Park but has remained behind first-choice 'keeper Tim Krul and Steve Harper in the league until the game against Southampton.
With both Krul and Harper ruled out with injury, Alan Pardew called upon Elliot to start in the game.
He has previously only played first-team football for United in the League Cup and the Europa League, with his previous appearence coming in the 0-0 draw with Portuguese side Maritimo.
On his Premier League debut, Elliot conceded two goals as both Morgan Schneiderlin and Rickie Lambert struck for Southampton.
He was to be on the winning side on his first league game for United though as Moussa Sissoko, Papiss Cisse and Yohan Cabaye, alongside an own-goal secured victory for Newcastle.
