Newcastle face a nervous wait until midnight on July 31, when the clause in Demba Ba's contract which would allow him to leave for just £7.5m is due to expire.

Ba has been linked with a number of clubs, but Russian side Rubin Kazan are the only club to have reportedly shown real interest.

Newcastle also face competition for long-term target Mathieu Debuchy, and will hope to tie up the signing of Curtis Good in the coming days.
