Newcastle United’s Alan Pardew says it is vital Northumbria Police find the alleged culprit of racist abuse aimed at striker Demba Ba during Sunday's Wear-Tyne derby.

He also commented on several high profile footballers players, including Rio Ferdinand and Jason Roberts, refusing to wear Kick It Out campaign t-shirts, believing that the charity is not doing enough to tackle racism.
The decision has divided the football community and sparked an argument between Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Ferdinand which has now been resolved.
Speaking at a Newcastle United Foundation event in Walker, Alan Pardew said: “I think the conflict between Alex and Rio might turn out be a good thing – that [racism] is on the agenda again.
“I think that’s probably where Jason and Rio are coming from – they want it on the agenda.
“We have to listen to them and try and make sure we eradicate it if we can.”
Striker Demba Ba, meanwhile, has reiterated that he will continue to support Kick It Out.
He said: “Personally I’m going to wear the t-shirt because the message on the t-shirt is a good message.
“I don’t know if it’s going change anything or everything, but it’s just a small beginning.”
