Pardew has managed in three games against Sunderland and is unbeaten so far with two draws and a win to date.
He has seen opposite number Martin O'Neill spend over £20m in the summer adding internationals Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson to his squad.
Pardew says that the new additions coupled with the squad O'Neill had to build upon makes the Sunderland squad the best he has known during his time managing Newcastle.
The game is live on Sky Sports One and kicks off at 1:30pm.
