The 19-year-old, brought in from Melbourne Heart, has signed a six-year deal with Newcastle.
Good will join up with his new teammates when Newcastle's first team returns from their tour to Portugal this week.
He is reported to have cost Newcastle £400,000, and will provide cover for Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor and Mike Williamson in Newcastle's defence.
He is already capped at under 19 level for Australia, and former Newcastle striker Michael Bridges, who now plays for New South Wales side Newcastle Jets in Australia's A-League, told Sky Tyne and Wear that Good is a "future Australia captain".
Melbourne Heart head coach John Aloisi had admitted that Good will be missed, but said he was delighted to see him heading for the Premier League.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for Curtis," Aloisi said on Sportal.
"Newcastle United is one of the biggest clubs in the United Kingdom, and we are absolutely delighted he has the opportunity to test his wares on such a stage.
"We wish Curtis well and hope he will one day return to don the red and white stripes of our club."
