Reports suggested the Hammers had agreed to pay Liverpool £2m to take the striker on a season-long loan, with a view to a permanent transfer for £17m if West Ham stayed in the Premier League.
But the East London club has moved to distance itself from the reports.
Carroll has made it known that he does not want to leave Liverpool on a permanent basis. And it's unclear whether Liverpool are prepared to allow the England striker to leave.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has said Carroll has a part to play in his plans. And he has stressed that offers for any of his players would be given proper consideration, not just Carroll.
An offer from Newcastle to bring Carroll back to Tyneside on loan was rejected by the Reds, who bought him from his hometown club for £35m in January 2011.
The 23-year-old striker has scored six goals in 42 Premier League games for Liverpool
