Carroll is ‘odds on’ to re-join former side Newcastle United but Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has ruled out the England international leaving on loan.
Dempsey has already been reported to have joined Rodgers’ side but Fulham have denied that move has gone through.
The London side are reportedly holding out for £10m for their top scorer last season.
Mick Dennis of the Daily Express told Sky Sports News that if the American player does join Liverpool he sees no place for Carroll under Rodgers.
