Former Newcastle United captain Kevin Nolan says he cannot understand how Liverpool can be considering letting Andy Carroll leave.

Carroll left Newcastle for £35m in January 2011 but has struggled with injury and lack of form over his time at Anfield.

Carroll did recover his scoring form at the end of last season and went on to play and score for England in Euro 2012.

Nolan saw Carroll graduate from the club’s academy and was still at the club when the striker left.

Nolan says after Carroll’s improved form at the end of last season, he cannot see why Liverpool would consider letting him leave.
