Boenisch is available on a free transfer after rejecting the offer of a new contract at Werder Bremen earlier in the summer.
The 25-year-old's agent recently stated that he was considering his options after Stuttgart pulled out of the race to secure his signature.
It is now thought that he could be on his way to England as there are several clubs monitoring his situation.
Newcastle, Everton and Reading are all believed to be considering a move for the player, who is primarily a left-back but can also play on the right of defence.
Boenisch was a member of the Poland squad which failed to progress past the group stage of Euro 2012 on home soil.
