York City Knights’ second half comeback denied Gateshead Thunder their first win of the season in a thrilling 26-22 encounter at the Huntington Stadium.

Thunder raced in to a 10-0 lead in as many minutes thanks to tries from Mike Mitchell and Tom Hodgson.
As the first half went on York found their feet and pulled a try back through Brett Turner.
Joe Hemmings then scored two tries in quick succession to give the home side a 14-10 half time lead.

Tries from Josh Neilson and Mitchell put Thunder ahead at the start of the second half, but penalties cost them.

Two tries from York debutant Chris Green late in the match was enough for the home side to see the game out 26-22.
