Sunderland and Newcastle United face each other for the 147th time on Sunday, but it isn’t the only North East derby taking place this weekend.
The curtain for the game at the Stadium of Light was raised the day before though, as Dunston UTS hosted Sunderland RCA in another North East battle for bragging rights in the Ebac Northern League Division One.
David Southern’s penalty 10 minutes from the final whistle was enough to secure a 1-0 away win for Sunderland RCA in a feisty contest at the UTS Stadium, much to the displeasure of Dunston boss Billy Irwin.
Irwin said, “ I don't think we deserved to get beat, but I certainly don't think we desreved a win the game.
The away-side's manager Neil Hixon was please with Sunderland's performance and said: "I thought the game was pretty tight, but overall I'm pleased with the result."
