Sunderland Live Presents Grassroots Festival

Sunderland Live comes to a fitting finale on Sunday 24th June with a selection of the finest local contemporary folk artists and singer songwriters performing in the wonderful backdrop of Mowbray Park. following on from the success of the previous years event, where a packed audience enjoyed a line-up including the likes of Cattle & Cane, Chased By Wolves and The Lake Poets.

This years event is even bigger, starts at 12 noon with a host of quality performances and great family entertainment on throughout the day to allow you to enjoy your picnic in style. Local award winning deli, Juniper's Pantry, will be on hand with a BBQ and a Tea & Cake Tent to fill bellies and quench thirsts throughout the day.

Sunderland Live, a series of events organised by Sunderland City council, is programmed by The Bunker, Sunderland's leading Music Development Organisation. Kenny Sanger, Managing Director of The Bunker explained, "Sunderland Live is a great opportunity for local artists to showcase their talents to the masses who are out and about in the City Centre during the month when we have the huge gigs on at the Stadium of Light."

The line-up of quality artists this year, includes a number of acts currently featuring in festivals around the UK including The Cornshed Sisters and Lilliput, plus a host of local emerging acts Natasha Haws, The Last Spectacular, Driven Serious, Thieving Penguins among others with the addition of a Gathering stage where local buskers will be playing till dusk sets upon the park.

Kenny added, "This year we have another fantastic line up of events which culminate in the Grassroots Festival with some amazing local music acts along with quality food and family entertainment, for everyone to enjoy before they go off to see The Futureheads and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers."
