Cakebook Britain: The People’s Picnic

Look out for food stalls, side-shows, live bands, food adventure playground, and heaps more… Come on down to Saltwell Park - with or without a cake - and join in. This year we're proud to announce that Cakebook Britain will be part of the London 2012 Festival. The culmination of the Cultural Olympiad Programme. Apart from seeing the map of Great Britain develop, there will be loads of other stuff going on to keep you entertained. Don't miss:  Some of our finest local chefs and producers prepare you a lipsmacking plateful.  Local primary schools go head-to-head to create a prize-winning sense-sational salad. Don't forget to pick up your free salad recipe booklet. Cookery Workshops for Kids - Cooking made fun, and as messy as you like.  The Tastes Good Feels Great project returns - Fantastic free food made by amazing people, all recovering from mental health problems, who’ve worked with the EAT! team to discover the pleasure and fun of making and sharing food.  Take on the Food Adventure Playground - where food gets seriously fun. Take the Tunaversity Challenge, join the ostrich egg-and-spoon race, help with the giant jigsaws and get a good soaking in the Stockpot kitchen… And don't miss the Great British Boxing Booth - Roll up, roll up! Slip inside the traditional fairground marquee and find magicians, wrestlers, dancers, entertainers… Find out how to lose weight and have your cake and eat it too at the Fat-Loss Feast! Personal trainer, and cook, Joe Sexton will have you jumping for joy. Phew!
