Chef David Kennedy's first-ever pop-up restaraunt event

Homemade humous and chargrilled chorizo were some of the Spanish-themed foods on the menu at chef David Kennedy's first-ever pop-up restaurant event.

Held at King's School in Tynemouth, the North East chef invited guests to sample nine different tapas dishes on the first of three food-filled evenings.

On the second evening, chef Kennedy is creating a Spring-themed menu, while a 5-course taster session is planned for the final night.

The former North East Chef of the Year, who runs David Kennedy's Food Social at the Biscuit Factory in Newcastle, told Sky Tyne and Wear the event was an opportunity to take his menu to new audiences.

The pop-up restaurant is the appetiser to the inaugural Tynemouth Food Festival - a two day extravanganza which gets underway on May 12, 2012.

A celebration of local produce and talent, it will feature cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs including Graeme Cuthell from Irvin's Brasserie and Adam Hegarty from Six at the Baltic.

Other celebrations include a 'cake day' at the Priory Cafe and cheese and wine tasting at the Deli Around the Corner.

Tickets for David Kennedy’s pop-up restaurant can be purchased from The Cumberland Arms, Children of the Revolution and The Deli Around The Corner.
