Durham posted 142 for 6 from their 20 overs with Ben Stokes’ 36 their top score.

Newly arrived T20 specialist Herschelle Gibbs scored six on his debut but was first to go after Ryan Sidebottom dismissed him.

Dale Benkenstein and Gordon Muchall both scored 25 to give Durham a healthy total.

The away-side’s bowling attack then started well dismissing Yorkshire’s top order for just 37.

But Richard Pyrah’s innings of 34 and Gerard Brophy’s of 32 brought them into the match.

Liam Plunkett took Pyrah’s wicket and Scott Borthwick dismissed Brophy.

Yorkshire took the game to the end, needing four runs from the final delivery.

But, they only scored one to leave them on 140 for eight.
